Audi has won the Logistics Award 2017 from the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) with its autonomous system. The park robots named Ray sort up to 2,000 cars per day for loading on railway wagons. Built by serva transport systems, it is a unique solution and a first for using an automated parking system to handle logistics at an auto manufacturing plant.

Finished Vehicle Logistics explores the automation of logistics in the car manufacturing industry. serva is the first company to assist auto manufacturers in automating finished vehicle logistics (FVL) with its RAY™ robot. serva's move into the FVL industry expands its markets into an industry outside of parking. A first for any automated parking company.
Audi recently released information on serva transport systems' pilot project at Audi's Ingolstadt plant. In the pilot phase, two robots independently transport cars from production to an interim storage area. From there, these driverless transport systems with the name “RAY” later place the sorted Audi models into position according to their shipping destinations, so that logistics employees can load them onto railway cars. This is the first implementation of serva's automated parking system in a manufacturing facility.
